Mac OS X Lion contains new features for exporting files from Quicktime. However, unless you're exporting the audio only, you must first make modifications to the video before exporting it. You can do this by rotating or flipping the footage, merging and splitting clips or making other changes to the video.
Export a video into a file format by going to File --> Export. This will open a Finder window where you can add a title, save location and format to the file.
Quicktime offers a variety of formats to export your file:
- 480p: This format provides a regular resolution for normal television screens.
- 720p: This format is full resolution for smaller HD televisions.
- 1080p: This format provides a full resolution HD televisions.
- iPod touch & iPhone 3GScompatibility
- iPad, iPhone 4 & Apple TV compatibility
- Mac & PC: Can play on either a Mac or a PC.
- Audio Only: Export only the audio of the file. You cannot choose the type of audio format. It will default to a basic format.
You can also select to export the file to a format for the web. Go to File --> Export for Web.
This will open a window where you can change the name, select where to export the file and select what web version to export for. You can choose from Wi-Fi, Cellular or Broadband connection formats. Quicktime will export a separate video for each connection version. (Source from http://www.mahalo.com/)
